Our story

Founded in 1215, the Abbey of Aywiers housed for nearly six centuries a community of Cistercian sisters, including the famous St. Lutgarde.
When she arrived at the abbey, where she lived for 40 years, Sister Lutgarde took a vow of silence.
In 2017, this place full of mystery and history inspired two passionate brothers to create the Lutgarde beer.
They decided then to revive the brewing heritage of this abbey filled with secrets.
